James E. Simmons is a 1979 graduate of Rice University. He attended Rice on a basketball scholarship and was co-captain of the basketball team his Senior year. Mr. Simmons is a 1989 graduate of the University of Houston Law Center. He is also a former 10 year Claims Adjuster. While attending the University of Houston Law Center, he received the American Jurisprudence Award for the top grade in his class in Constitutional Law. Mr. Simmons has been licensed to practice law since 1989 and is admitted to practice before the U.S. Distrct Court for the Southern District of Texas, Northern District of Texas, Eastern District of Texas, Western District of Texas and the 5th Circuit. Prior to being licensed as an attorney, Mr. Simmons worked ten (10) years as an Insurance Claims adjuster with ITT Hartford, Commercial Union Insurance Company, and American International Adjustment Company (AIAC was the claims handling company for the AIG Family of companies). Mr. Simmons is a member of the Houston Bar Association, State Bar of Texas, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, the Defense Research Institute, and the Council On Litigation Management.


CLIFFORD A. LAWRENCE, JR. is a 1979 graduate of the University of Houston School of Law, graduating second in his class. Mr. Lawrence is licensed to practice before the U.S. District Courts for the Southern, Northern and Eastern Districts of Texas. Mr. Lawrence is available to assist Mr. Simmons in the handling of large litigation. Mr. Lawrence has been voted a 2010 Super Lawyer by his fellow attorneys and is board certified in personal injury law.
